Information Sharing Access Explained

The Information sharing feature allows you to share investment, fund performance, and capital account information with your investors. Depending on whether or not you use Carta for fund administration, you will either have the option to share the SOI, Deal IRR and Fund performance pages, or the Portfolio and Dashboard pages. Both funds using and not using Carta for fund administration can share the Capital account pages with their investors.

You can set the “Sharing through” date by selecting the "Edit date" in the top left corner.

You can set the “Sharing through” date to a specific date or share in real time. You also have the ability to issue an email notifying your investors that the sharing date has been updated.

To update what is being shared. Select an investor(s) and select "Set access".

Use the drop-down menus to designate sharing status. The review modal shows you the new sharing status and gives you the option of notifying your investors of the change via email.

The SOI, Deal IRR, and Fund performance shared views are only available to funds that use Carta fund administration services.

SOI

By sharing SOI for a particular fund, your investors will be able to view the unrealized investment information that the fund sees. The datepicker can be set by the investors to anytime before the share-through date.

Deal IRR

By sharing Deal IRR for a particular fund, your investors will be able to view the IRR performance information for all investments. The datepicker can be set by the investor to anytime before the share-through date.

Fund performance

By sharing Fund performance for a particular fund, your investors will be able to view the overall fund performance metrics, including net calculations. The datepicker can be set by the investor to anytime before the share-through date.

The Portfolio and Dashboard shared views are only available to funds that do not use Carta fund administration services.

Portfolio

By sharing portfolio for a particular fund, investors will be able to view all unrealized holdings for that fund.  Investors will be able to see the issue date, ownership percentage (if provided), cost, value, and gain/ loss.

Dashboard

Investment firms will first need to provide access to portfolio before the dashboard can be shared because information from the portfolio will be used in the dashboard figures. Information from the portfolio that is used in the dashboard includes a number of investments, sector tags, the round of investment, gross multiples, and IRR.  Other information provided in the dashboard is a compilation of aggregate capital account information.

Capital accounts & Fund transactions

By sharing Capital account for a particular fund, your investors will be able to view their capital account transaction data. For the Capital accounts view, your investors can only see their own capital account statement information including all transactions provided by the fund. The datepicker can be set by the investor to anytime between the date of their first capital account transactions with the fund and the share-through date. For the Fund transaction page, the investor can view a list of all their raw capital account transactions before the share-through date. The Capital accounts & Fund transactions function the same for both Carta fund administration and non-fund administration users of the information sharing feature.

If you have more questions about what investors will see when setting access on the information sharing page, feel free to contact your investment firm relationship manager or contact investorservices@carta.com.
