How will my address be used?
Many critical company filings require mailing addresses for their shareholders and employees.
- Form 3921: This IRS tax form must be filed for each exercise of incentive stock options that occurred during the calendar year. Employees who had two or more exercises may receive multiple 3921 forms or may receive a consolidated statement showing all exercises. This information can be used to calculate cost basis in the shares or to calculate the amount of income that needs to be reported for the alternative minimum tax.
- Shareholder notices: Many state laws, including Delaware's, require that shareholders receive physical mailings for certain important notices. The company may utilize your mailing address when sending these notices.
