Adding files and folders

Documents allow you to securely store and share files with groups and individual board members.

1. Click on the Board icon in the main navigation and then select Documents:

2. Click on the green Add button to add files and folders to your document repository:

3. Adding a folder will bring up the following screen:

4. Selecting “Add a file” will display files available on your computer. Click on the file:

4. Documents also allow you to upload files and folders by dragging and dropping files directly from your computer:

Sharing files with other users

1. Click on the Board icon in the main navigation and then select Documents:

2. Click on the grey drop-down arrow on the document or folder you want to share and select Share from the menu:

3. The screen below will appear and you will be able to choose the user or users that you would like to share the document with. The user must currently be on the people page to receive a document on Carta. Once you are ready to send the document you should click the green Share button:

4. An email will be sent to the user alerting them that they have been shared a document or file on Carta:

Deleting files and folders

1. Click on the Board icon in the main navigation and then select Documents:

2. Click on the grey drop-down arrow on the document or folder you want to delete and select delete from the menu:

3. The following message will appear, asking for you to confirm that you are happy to delete the document or folder. Click ok on the message below to delete the file permanently:

Downloading files

1. Click on the Board icon in the main navigation and then select Documents:

2. Click on the grey drop-down arrow on the document or folder you want to download and select Download from the menu:

Viewing activity

To see who accessed files in a folder, visit the activity tab. Note, Read-only/automatically generated folders like “Resolutions” and “Meetings” do not track activity.

Previewing files

When you click on the file, most of the formats would have a preview on Carta

To quickly navigate across presentations, use thumbnails feature

To search within files, switch to OCR mode. Carta would recognize data on images and put them in text format.

Board user’s experience

Board user would get a notification and when logged in the experience would be very similar to what an admin would see. Functionality would be exactly the same, except for sharing, deleting, and renaming files.
