Alerts for 'historical edits'

Historical edits indicate to the user whether a comparable metric in a comparable document was manually adjusted in a previous period – and therefore needs special attention. This alert helps improve data accuracy and consistency.

Go to Filters > Metrics, then select the filter you wish to edit.

In the metrics list, identify the column 'Alerting'. Here, you can select which alerts should be applied to values found in your documents.

  • Comparable metric is defined as the same metric with identical attributes (e.g. same currency, portfolio company, etc.) but associated with the previous period

  • Comparable document is defined as the same document type associated with the same fund

  • Previous period is defined as the latest available period for which data was extracted from a comparable document.

To configure historical edits:

  1. Navigate to the metric of interest

  2. Under Alerting, select 'Historical edit' from the dropdown list

  3. Save the new settings

When triggered, the metric will appear as 'Unverified', with an explanatory tooltip.

Note: Where no comparable historical metric is found, the metric will be flagged green.

‍

Here is an example of a historical edit:

‍

  1. A 'Capital called' metric is edited in a Q2 2021 Performance Report and the document is extracted

  2. For all subsequent comparable documents, the comparable metric (Capital called with matching attributes) is found by the parser and flagged amber. Opposite we see that the Capital called in Performance Report Q3 2021 is flagged amber.
    ‍

The comparable metric in future comparable documents will remain flagged amber as long as the latest extracted metric was manually adjusted. If, for example, the capital call is extracted without manual adjustment in Q3 2021, then this metric will be parsed as green for subsequent comparable documents.
