How do I implement SSO?

Request SSO setup from your account team or from your implementation manager during onboarding.

Involve your IT Team with administrator access to your SSO System:

  1. Share the setup link provided by Carta with your IT team.

  2. The IT team will select IDP and complete the self-service set up.

Company administrators will be invited to access Carta via the SSO IDP.

Carta will not send emails inviting the admins to access the account. Invited admins need to log into the SSO application and click on the Carta tile.

After clicking the Carta tile, admins will see a blank page and appear on the Team & Security page but won't access the account until the next step is completed.

Existing Full Access administrators must assign a Role for the new user by clicking on the row tools button on the right and selecting Edit.

The newly added administrator can refresh their screen and navigate the Carta account as an admin.

What are the email domain requirements?

  • The email domain provided must be a corporate email - not a public domain (ie gmail.com).

  • It is possible to add users with those email domains to the IDP. This email domain will must have the following format: company-name.com.

  • Administrator won't be able to accept interests with the same email address they use to log into as admins via SSO.

FAQs

Can holders be added to the company's IDP and access Carta via SSO?

No, SSO is available for administrators only. Any interest holders will be invited to create an account upon receiving interests to accept.

Can I add administrators using the Team and Security page?

Yes, but the option to invite new users won't be available for company administrators once SSO is enabled. Please reach out to Support and the team will add any new external users for you from the Team and Security page.
