How to manage company signatories

A company officer has to sign securities upon issuance in order to be compliant, so it’s important to remember to set your signatories in Carta. And, because one person must act as a signatory for each type of security your company issues at all times, you'll need to reassign a previous user’s signatory privileges first if you’d like to revoke their access to the company account.

On the flip side, only company account users can be designated as signatories, so they’ll always have to be added to the company account before you can grant them signatory privileges.

Users with Full access can assign company signatories through the Company settings page by following the steps below.

  1. Navigate to Company settings in the bottom left, then click Users and permissions along the side.

  2. Ensure that the person you would like to designate as a signatory has already been added as a company account user. (If not, click the link below to add them first).

  3. Click into the Signatories tab. To the right of each security type, designate a signatory by selecting the appropriate company account user and their corresponding title.

  4. Click Update signatories at the bottom to save your changes.
