Can I merge my Carta accounts?

When you contact Support to merge your Carta accounts, the support agent will walk you through the following steps:

Provide both account email addresses. Share the email addresses for both Carta accounts you want to merge.
Confirm access to both accounts.
You will need to be able to sign in to both accounts, access both email inboxes, and access the two-factor authentication (2FA) devices for both accounts.
- If you cannot access one account because of an email issue, you will need to complete an account recovery before the merge can proceed.
- If you cannot access one account because of a 2FA issue, you will need to complete a 2FA reset first.
Choose your primary account. Decide which email address you want to keep as your primary account. This is the account you will use to start the merge.
The support agent will start the merge.
1. A confirmation code will be sent to the email inbox of the email that will become your primary account email after the merge. Share that code with the support agent when you receive it.
2. A confirmation code will be sent to the email inbox of your secondary account. Share that code with the support agent when you receive it.
3. If your 2FA method is your phone number, you will receive a code via text, share that code with the support agent. If you use an authenticator app, get the code from the app and share it with the support agent.
Review the merge details. The support agent will confirm that the merge summary shows the correct account details.
Agree to the merge terms. You will confirm that you understand the merge is permanent and cannot be undone.
Wait for the merge to complete. The system will process the merge and consolidate both accounts into one.
After the merge, sign out and sign back in before reviewing your account.
If you are in a chat session with your agent, use a different browser to sign in so you do not lose your chat connection.

What to expect after the merge:

Your secondary account email is saved as the backup email on your consolidated account.
Any portfolios from the secondary account are moved into your merged account as separate portfolios. You can merge portfolios yourself if needed.
