How does Carta ensure secure and accurate fund payments?

Carta assists our Fund Administration clients with the initiation of certain cash payments, such as expenses, management fees, and investments from the clients’ bank accounts.

Carta utilizes industry standard risk mitigation and payment processing controls to ensure quality and accuracy of payment initiation on behalf of our clients to review and release.

Process and controls

All payment requests received from our Fund Administration clients undergo the following validation controls:

  • Review payment request for validity and completeness

  • Collect relevant backup documentation for the transaction, e.g. invoices, investment documents, client approved calculations

  • Verify Carta’s bank login has the necessary permission to process the transaction

  • All Carta bank credentials use 2 Factor Authentication and Secure Password Management Software to ensure access and oversight

  • Confirm counterparty instructions meet bank requirements for domestic and/or international payment processing

  • Ensure sufficient cash balances available prior to payment initiation

  • Initiate payment in client’s bank portal using the details provided

  • Perform independent secondary review to ensure payment details are accurate

  • Save payment initiation confirmation from bank portal

  • Notify client payment is ready for release
