

How to assign company contacts
Company contacts handle specific tasks within Carta, either facilitating workflows or serving as key points of contact in designated circumstances.
Users assigned as Company contacts must first be added as Company users, and conversely, unassigned as company contacts before they can be removed from your account. Follow the steps below to manage them.
Within the Users & Permissions page, click Company contacts.
Keep reading for a description of what each role entails, as well as the level of access it requires. Ensure that the users you’d like to assign as company contacts have been added to your account and granted the correct permissions.
For each role, select the appropriate account user from the dropdown. You can assign the same user to multiple, or even all roles if needed.
Save your changes at the bottom of the page.

The available roles are outlined below, as well as the access level required:
Company contact | Description | Required permissions |
Cap table owner | Primary point of contact for ensuring all Carta account settings and user permissions are up-to-date. | Full access |
Option exercise approver | This person receives access to review and approve/reject option exercises. | Full access |
Stakeholder contact | This person receives email notifications when stakeholders ask questions about their equity. | Full access |
Legal contact | This person is the point of contact for ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations of equity management and legal documents. | Full access |
Finance contact | Point person for-finance related responsibilities, including fundraising and scenario modeling. | Full access |
Valuations contact | This person will receive email notifications when the company's 409A valuation is about to expire. | Full access Company editor |
HR contact | This person is the point of contact for ensuring that stakeholder data is up-to-date, creating new stakeholders, drafting securities, and processing terminations. | Full access Company editor HR administrator |
Investor relations contact | The point of contact for sharing performance information with stakeholders and providing investor updates. | Full access |
Payroll contact | The point of contact for ensuring that stakeholder payroll data is updated in Carta. May manage tax rules with the support of other team members. | Full access Company editor HR administrator |
Financial reporting contact | The point of contact for ASC 718 and other financial reporting tasks in Carta. | Full access Company editor |
