How to navigate a loan record

Once a loan is live in Carta Loan Operations, you access all of its information and workflows from a single loan record. This guide explains how to open a loan record and what you will find in each section.

How to open a loan record

  1. Select Loans in the left navigation.

  2. Find the loan you want to view. Use the Search bar to search by loan name or borrower, or use Filters to narrow the list by lender, status, maturity date, or other criteria.

  3. Select the loan name. You are taken to the loan record, which opens on the Overview tab.

What the Overview tab shows

The Overview tab is the main summary view for a loan. It has four sections.

  • Loan Information shows the core deal details: the agent, lenders (your lead lender is labeled), closing date, automated money movement (AMM) status, current effective rate, tags, deal lead, and category. Select View All User-Defined Fields to see any custom fields your firm has configured for this loan.

  • Structures shows a summary table of every structure on the loan, with committed amount, outstanding balance, and current effective rate per structure. Below the table, select a structure tab to drill into that structure's details, including its maturity date, draw period end date, interest rate formula, and principal status. Select View Interest Rate History to see the full rate history for that structure.

  • Advances shows the individual drawdowns within the selected structure, including effective date and amount disbursed.

  • Notes is at the bottom of the Overview tab and is a free-text field for internal notes about the loan.
