How to onboard a company through your law firm account
Navigate to your law firm’s Carta account and select the Companies tab.
Click Onboard new company.
Read the information and click Next: Add company details.
Enter the Company details and the Company primary contact details.
Click Next: Go to setup guide.
This will create the company’s account. Click Upload Company Documents.
You will be redirected to the Drop company’s documents page in the Setup Guide.
If your client has already passed the free Launch threshold and will be selecting a paid plan, you can choose to conduct the onboarding yourself, or request assistance from an implementation manager by emailing partners@carta.com.
Please provide the client’s entity name in your message and allow 24 hours for an implementation manager to be assigned.
Begin by uploading the incorporation document(s).
If you prefer using the Data Room, click View in Data Room.
Return to the Setup Guide at any time during the onboarding process by clicking Complete setup → at the top of the page.
Continue filling out the company profile.
Navigate to the applicable task by clicking the button to the right of its row.
In the Create cap table section, you have the option to Upload plan documents and set vesting schedules.
Click Go to cap table importer to download a Prefilled Onboarding Spreadsheet or Blank Onboarding Spreadsheet.
When you open the importer, you can see the status of the extraction of the documents you uploaded.
Complete the missing information in the onboarding spreadsheet. The first tab contains instructions.
When finished, save the revised file.
To see an example template, click Download and select See Example template from the dropdown menu.
Complete the Add users to account and send for review section. Upon clicking Notify Company, your client will receive an email prompting them to review their account and accept Carta’s terms of service, and the company’s designated signatories will receive an email prompting them to sign the associated securities.
When the onboarding spreadsheet is complete, click Upload Template.
Once these two actions have been completed, you or the client can click Activate to activate the account and send securities to stakeholders to accept into their Carta accounts.
The client will receive an email notifying them that you have successfully completed their onboarding.
