How to perform a share class conversion

A share class conversion is the process of exchanging a stockholder's shares of one class for shares of another class — for example, converting preferred shares to common shares. On Carta, a conversion cancels the original certificates and issues new ones in the target share class, updating the cap table accordingly.

Users with Full access permissions can perform share class conversions within their company’s Carta account.
