How integrations work in Carta CRM

There's no single Integrations page in Carta CRM. Instead, each integration lives wherever it makes the most sense to configure it: some inside Settings, some as a separate app you install yourself, and a few that just work the moment your account is created. Knowing which category something falls into tells you where to look for it.

Automatic: Runs the moment a record is created. No connection step, and nothing to turn on. Contact and company enrichment works this way.

Installed per user: Each person on your team installs and authorizes it individually. The Chrome extension, the Outlook add-in, and connecting your own Claude, ChatGPT, or Codex all work this way.

Configured by an admin: Turned on once for the whole firm, usually from Settings. REST API keys, AI notetakers, and financial data sources like PitchBook, Gain, and CFNews all work this way.

Email and calendar sync is a mix of the last two: an admin registers the connection once for the firm, but each person still needs to connect and sync their own mailbox individually. See Section 4 for details.

Integration	Type	Where to connect it
`Contact & company enrichment`	Automatic	No setup required
`REST API`	Admin-configured	Settings → API
`Email & calendar sync`	Admin sets up, each user connects	Settings → Email/Calendar Sync
`AI notetakers (Granola, Teams, Zoom, Grain)`	Admin-configured	Settings → AI Notetaker
`Financial data (PitchBook, Gain, CFNews)`	Pre-built by Carta	Request via crm@carta.com
`Chrome extension`	Installed per user	Chrome Web Store
`Outlook add-in`	Installed per user	Microsoft Marketplace
`External AI connector (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex)`	Installed per user	Each tool's own Settings → Connectors

Contact and company enrichment

Every contact you save in Carta CRM is enriched automatically. There's no connector to turn on and nothing to authorize. The moment a contact is saved, Carta CRM queries third-party data providers sourced from LinkedIn and other professional networks, then uses that data to fill in job title, company, location, work history, and a short bio.

Enrichment also tracks job changes automatically. When a contact moves to a new company, Carta CRM updates their role, employer, and email address, while keeping their old email on file so past interactions still match to the right person.

REST API

Carta CRM's REST API is available to every customer and lets you read and write records programmatically, the same way Claude does when it runs a migration or a batch update. Full reference documentation lives at docs.carta.com/crm/reference.

Generating an API key

Go to Settings: Open Settings from the admin area.
Select API: Choose API from the Settings menu.
Create a key: Generate a new key, set an expiration, and assign an access level.

Email and calendar sync (Gmail and Outlook)

Carta CRM connects to your firm's Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 tenant through a native app registration, then syncs each user's email and calendar activity into the CRM. Once connected, this is what powers the relationship intelligence you see on Contact, Deal, Company, and Investor records: who on your team has talked to whom, and when.

Connecting your account

Most users are prompted to connect during login. If you skipped that prompt or need to reconnect later, go to Settings → Email/Calendar Sync and connect from there.

What happens once you connect

Sync frequency: Your mailbox and calendar sync every 30 minutes.
Initial backfill: The first sync pulls in roughly four to five years of history, so relationship context doesn't start from zero.
Reverse sync: Carta CRM can also push the contacts your firm is known to back into your Gmail or Outlook contacts, and from there down to your mobile device if you sync contacts to your phone.
Email block list: Exclude specific addresses or domains from syncing, so personal or unrelated email never enters the CRM.
Visibility controls: Admins can control what synced activity other users are able to see.
