SFTP for efficient data transfer

Setting up a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) can facilitate the flow of data between the Carta LP Portfolio Analytics and your own systems. With SFTP, you can drive efficiency by automating the transfer of documents and reference data into the platform and ingest data outputs from extracted documents.

Why use SFTP?

SFTP offers multiple advantages including:

  • Secure transfer of documents to and from Carta LP Portfolio Analytics

  • Synchronise your reference data (entities, events) between Carta LP Portfolio Analytics and your internal systems

  • Automate the transfer of data from your documents post extraction on our platform

Setup

If you are a new user, the first step to setting up SFTP is to generate an SSH public-private key. Once this has been generated, please transfer your public key to Carta LP Portfolio Analytics.

Once this key has been configured on the Carta LP Portfolio Analytics SFTP server (2-3 working days), we will notify you and provide all the details needed for you to establish a connection to our server.

Once you log in, you will be directed to your SFTP root directory, which will be named after your tenant. (e.g. ExampleTenantuser).

Uploading data

Documents

To transfer documents to the document inbox, please upload them to ExampleTenantuser/inbox/upload/documents.

To transfer documents to the document feed, please upload them to ExampleTenantuser/inbox/upload/source_documents.

Reference data

To transfer reference data to Carta LP Portfolio Analytics, please upload it to ExampleTenantuser/inbox/upload/reference_data. The format should be the same as the one used in the UI (.csv template).

Exceptions

If the file upload is successful, your file will be moved to the /archives subfolder. If there was an exception, we will upload it to the /exceptions subfolder.

Automated output

Extraction of a document within Carta LP Portfolio Analytics can trigger the transfer of data from that document to outbox/download/metrics. This data can be consumed in a 'standard' .xlsx or .json format. Alternatively, any custom outputs configured in Carta LP Portfolio Analytics can also be transferred to this location.
